Sewing Essential Skills Masterclass
This is the perfect class for those of you who want to brush up on your technical sewing skills and get the chance to practice techniques without having to make a full project. This means you’ll have the time and guidance to really perfect your sewing and concentrate on those elements that can prove tricky without practice! We’ll provide all the tools and equipment that you’ll need and you can ask all those burning questions!
Our sewing classes are relaxed and friendly, taking place at our beautiful dedicated sewing studio at Holme Grange Craft Village in Wokingham, Berkshire. Students get to use our brand new digital Janome sewing machines and class sizes are capped to ensure everyone gets the time and attention they need.
If you’d prefer to use your own machine you are very welcome to bring it with you. Please see the notes below for full information.*
YOU WILL LEARN
- How to insert a standard zip
- How to insert a concealed zip
- How to sew button holes
- How to attach buttons with the sewing machine
- How to sew bias binding
- How to sew and insert piping
You will need to know how to use a sewing machine and be confident threading and rethreading your machines and stitching in straight lines etc.
The class includes expert tuition, useful handouts, use of our Janome machines, and there’ll also be tea, coffee and cake! You’re very welcome to bring a packed lunch and we can store it in our fridge, or you can visit our wonderful on-site cafe.
YOU NEED TO BRING
- Nothing, all materials are provided.
Our classes are non-refundable so please make sure you’ve checked your diary carefully and read our Class FAQs before booking. These also cover lots of other questions so please do read them!
Please note you’ll receive a confirmation email upon booking and you’ll also receive a reminder email the week before your class. If you don’t receive these, please check your junk/spam folder.
*Bringing Your Own Machine: You will need to ensure it is good working order, with a working foot cable, power pedal and a copy of your instructions (if you don’t have the original instructions, you can usually Google the make & model and download a copy). You will need to carry your machine from the car park and up one flight of stairs to our studio. Please note we may not have accessories to fit your own machine, such as a buttonhole foot, but we can work with what you do have and show you the options on the studio machines. If your machine is not deemed electrically safe, we’re sorry but you will not be able to use it.
