Description
We are delighted to welcome Jo back to the studio to teach our much requested Introduction to Patchwork and Quilting course. This two-day course covers everything you need to know to get you started on your journey into the wonderful world of quilting.
You Will Learn
- How to choose and place your fabrics
- Measuring and cutting using a rotary cutter and mat
- Machine piecing and pressing
- Straight line quilting and using a walking foot
- Adding a border/sashing your quilt
- Layering your quilt using wadding and backing fabric
- Binding and finishing your quilt
This course is split over two days 10.30am – 4.30pm one week apart to allow you maximum teaching time and any homework/learning that you do in between can be discussed with the teacher. You’ll create a beautiful mini/lap quilt, which you can also add ties to to use as a sewing machine cover.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
The class includes expert instruction, use of the Janome machines, wadding, tools etc, instructions so you can make again at home plus tea, coffee and biscuits!
YOU NEED TO BRING
- 4 Fat Quarters of cotton fabric (ideally contrasting when placed next to each other – these will be used for the squares and backing)
- 2 Long Quarters of cotton fabric (these are for the borders and binding so should contrast to each other and to the fat quarters)
- Thread in a complementary colour to the fabric – Good quality i.e. Gutermann
SKILL LEVEL
You will have made some simple projects before and know how to use a sewing machine. This class is not suitable for complete beginners. If you are unsure, please Contact Us before booking.
