An Introduction to Freehand Machine Embroidery
We are delighted to welcome the very talented Lucy from Lucy Dorothy to teach freehand machine embroidery classes here at Sewisfaction HQ!
“Excellent teacher and group. Wonderful day and would recommend. I look forward to my next class at Sewisfaction if I am quick enough to book the next one as they go quick.”
Learn the art of freemotion embroidery. Have fun drawing with your sewing machine and create several designs using fabrics and templates provided. Students will be introduced to techniques including thread sketching and raw edge appliqué. The workshop is suitable for beginners.
Students focus on creating multiple small pieces of work, whilst getting familiar with the various techniques. If you’ve already attended a freemotion embroidery class previously and want to progress your skills, you’re also very welcome on this class, please just add a note at checkout.
During the workshop you will be given lots of examples to copy, however there will also be an opportunity to work on your own design if you’d like to. So if you already have an idea in mind, please bring with you any relevant drawings, photos, pictures, etc. All the fabric you need will be provided, but if you have any particular fabric scraps you are keen to incorporate into a finished piece, please by all means bring them with you.
If you would like to take the opportunity during the workshop to discuss how to setup your own sewing machine at home for free motion, please ensure you know the make and model of your machine.
