It’s the new sewing pattern on the block and thanks to signature Tilly and the Buttons style, we already have approximately 45728357320 variations of the new Indigo pattern planned in our head, every one dreamier than the one before. This week, we’ve pulled together our high-street Indigo sewing inspiration and our top fabric picks to get you started.
One of the reasons we love Indigo so much is not only the floaty shape that’s flattering for all body types but the fact that it really is the shape of the season too. Not to be confused with ‘that Zara dress’ the mid-length flared sleeves remind us of swishy seventies dresses destined to be worn over tights and over-knee boots whilst the simple yet effective top is perfect for pairing with jeans and sandals in the summer.
We’re all about getting the look here and so we’ve pulled together a board packed with Indigo sewing inspiration for you which you can see here:
Now onto fabrics. Indigo is perfect for most fabrics and we’re already loving the makes under the hashtag – lots of bright, bold prints complement this simple design and with it being such a simple make we love that you can have one for every day of the week. But of course if we had to choose (which we’ve already started to do) we would just have to have one in the following fabrics:
First up, as seen on Sheona herself we have no doubt that a lot more Indigo dresses are about to pop up in this glorious Emerald Bloom Rayon Twill. We love that it will work for all seasons – paired with a denim jacket and trainers when the sun comes out and layered up with tights and boots for winter. This fabric is super soft and you’ll no doubt have this one in heavy rotation when it comes to your work wardrobe.
Next up, we just have to have one in the colour of the season, that’s right, you heard it here first, khaki is going to be everywhere for AW19 and so sew yourself up a little slice of style with this Rio Viscose Crepe. We love a neutral palette, perfect for dressing up and down, tell us you wouldn’t wear this on a night out with chunky jewellery and sky-high heels – us too!
Another wardrobe basic but for us a definite must-have for this pattern, this soft washed 4oz denim is a classic fabric and paired with the classic shape of the Indigo, we can see this one being around for a while… We would love to see this one paired with a chunky belt and ALL of the accessories – denim is a neutral don’t you know?
Dots and spots are everywhere on the High Street and never go out of fashion. This beautifully soft Candy Dots Tencel Lawn would sew up into an amazing colour pop version! You can dress it up or down and the black accents mean you can wear it with opaque tights now the weather is cooling down.
Go bold or go home! We adore this soft satin with it’s incredible geometric print and it’s the perfect way to make a bold statement with a simple pattern like Indigo. Check out Miscellaneous Magic before it runs out!
So there you have it, one pattern lots of gorgeous ways. Have you picked up your copy of the Tilly and The Buttons ‘Indigo’ yet? Hurry now and bag yours here.
