Two weeks ago we put up a post asking for bloggers to join the Sewisfaction team. We were beyond delighted with the response! We had over sixty applications and every single one was full of inspiring makes and passion for sewing. Reading them really reinforced our love of the wonderful sewing community. We received a complete mix of applications, from a variety of ages, styles, experience level and locations, but all had a real love of fabric and dressmaking!
As you can imagine it has been incredibly difficult to narrow the applications down and we wish we could’ve chosen everybody. We couldn’t stick to the original four we had planned! After lots of deliberation, we have chosen six wonderful ladies to join our blogger team, and we are so excited to see what they’ll be making and sharing over the next few months. Before their posts start in a couple of weeks, we thought we should introduce you to them properly, and hope that you will enjoy discovering new sewists if you don’t already follow them.
Lesley from Sew Sleep Deprived
We loved the wide variety of garments Lesley has sewed over the last few years, and her happy, smiley posts! Lesley says;
“I started my blog a few years ago as a kind of diary but have had so much fun interacting with people I’ve never even met, so much so I consider some of these bloggers my friends. I’ve gotten so much out of the input of others, it would be nice to expand that network and maybe give some of the excellent advice I’ve had back to others.”
Maddie from Thimble Bee
Psychology student Maddie is a self-confessed dressmaking addict who loves sewing Cleo dresses and too many gathered peplum tops (is that even possible?!).
Her photo here shows her sporting one of her latest makes, a By Hand London Flora dress, which we love! Maddie says; “I’d really like to become part of the blogger team as I feel like a little bit of a lone wolf when it comes to my place within the sewing world and I’d love to be a part of something like this, where I can have my voice heard and also meet and have contact with some really lovely, like minded people.”
Kathy from Sew Dainty
Kathy has been sewing for over 45 years, after her Mother taught her on an old hand cranked Singer. Having caught the sewing bug at a young age, she has never looked back. A lady after our own hearts, she says her guilty pleasure in the evenings is popping her pyjamas on, grabbing a cuppa and reading sewing blogs and watching sewing vlogs on youTube – sounds like heaven to us! Kathy recently won first prize in the #dressmakeroftheyear competition in the ‘ready to wear’ category, for this fantastic version of The Foldline’s Joni dress. We’re so excited to see what Kathy will be sharing as part of the blogger team!
Amanda from I Sew A Lot
A lot of you will recognise Amanda from her popular sewing vlog on YouTube. Amanda is one of the speediest sewists we’ve ever seen! Last month she made a whopping twenty one new garments and she’s the Queen of the One Hour Sewing Challenge. As well as making beautiful clothes for herself, Amanda also makes for her adorable twin boys and sometime even for her husband! With her makes varying from vintage inspired dresses to modern sweaters and a fabulous dose of 70’s, Amanda’s enthusiasm and energy is infectious and we’re delighted she’s part of the team.
Samantha from Sew by the Seaside
Sewing and creating since she was at school, Samantha is new to the world of sewing blogging but has been recording her beautiful makes on Instagram for sometime. Based on the lovely Dorset coast, her pretty outfits and stylish photos have had us swooning and we’re very excited to see what Samantha is going to make for the Sewisfaction Blogger Team!
Suzanna from Sea Salt and Stitches
A seasoned sewing blogger, Suzanna has been sharing her wonderful makes since 2010! She’s managed to keep up with blogging and even find time for some vlogging on YouTube since moving to her beautiful house on the Irish coast and having her adorable little boy. We love how Suzanna makes such a wide variety of garments, everything from stunning, knockout dresses to everyday tops and tees. Suzanna has written some great tutorials in the past so we’re looking forward to find out what tips and tricks she’ll be sharing with us!
We are so excited to have this wonderful group of sewists joining the Sewisfaction blogger team. We’ll be sharing their makes every other Friday so make sure you pop back to keep updated with their makes or sign up to our newsletter to ensure you don’t miss their posts!
