Coronavirus and Classes

We understand that people are concerned about the current COVID19 viral outbreak so have added this temporary section to our website and will keep it updated with any changes.

At present we are following government guidelines and continuing with classes and workshops as normal and ensuring extra hygiene steps are taken. All our sewing machines and workstations will be wiped down at the end of classes as usual, antibac spray and blue roll will be available in the studio at all times.

Our existing Cancellation Policy has not been changed, please see below for further information. We will continue to review this in line with government guidelines.

Can I order a fabric swatch?

Yes! Swatches are charged at £2.50 to cover shipping and packing costs, you can order up to six swatches per £2.50 charge.

I want to order more than 0.5m, how will you send it?

All our fabrics are priced in 0.5m increments and this is the minimum we can cut for you, however if you want more you just need to add the total number of 0.5m increments to your basket. For example if you want 1.5m , you would add 3 to your basket and it will all be sent as one continuous length.

I’ve placed my order, how long will it take?

I haven’t received a confirmation email?

You’ll receive an email automatically generated by our system when you place your order and again when your order has been dispatched. If you do not receive either of these, please check your junk or spam folder before contacting us as they have usually ended up in there! You can avoid this in the future by marking our email address as “Not Spam”.

Fabric Care Advice

To ensure you get the best from your lovely new fabric, we recommend pre-washing prior to cutting & sewing. Some fabrics can shrink when they are first washed, this is perfectly normal but it is helpful to wash them before you make up your garments, this will ensure they still fit you!

Keep your fabrics looking fresh by washing on a 30 degree wash wherever possible. We find this is the ideal temperature for most handmade garments to avoid shrinkage, fading or damage. Some fabrics may require special washing and handling, if this is the case we will always try to advise in the individual fabric descriptions. However it is the buyers responsibility to test wash all fabrics – we suggest using a small swatch if you are unsure.

Scissors & Rotary Cutters

You must be over 18 years of age to purchase rotary cutters or scissors. By choosing to purchase rotary cutters or scissors you are confirming you are over 18 years of age. Please note, we are unable to post scissors or rotary cutters to international customers.

What payment system do you use?

We use PayPal. They are PCI and SSL compliant and we do not see it hold and of your payment information.

You do not need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal.

Can I come and visit Sewisfaction?

Yes! Our shop is based at Holme Grange Craft Village in Wokingham, Berkshire. We have our full range of fabrics and haberdashery and also teach a wide range of classes.

At Holme Grange we are alongside twenty other independent businesses, including handmade gifts, jewellery making, glass fusing, pottery painting, vintage furniture and hair and beauty salons. There is also a delicious cafe just downstairs!

Class FAQs

How do I book?

You can book online, simply choose which class and which date you want to attend and and pay using credit or debit card. Alternatively you can visit us in the shop and pay with cash or card.

Can I cancel or move my class?

Class bookings are non-refundable so please ensure you are able to attend before booking. We take a lot of care to ensure our classes give you loads of knowledge and are really enjoyable and that take a lot of time. We also have to pay our teachers and buy materials in advance and keep our class numbers small which is why we’re not able to offer refunds. For the same reason classes are also non-transferable although you may send someone in your place, you just need to let us know their name and contact details beforehand.

If you can’t attend please let us know as soon as possible you may be able to book onto another class date instead, spaces/waiting list permitting plus an additional 25% administration fee, but please note this is at our discretion and not part of the terms of booking.

We need a minimum number of students for each class to run. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a class due to low attendance, staff sickness or unavoidable emergency. These instances are very rare and we’ll always give you as much notice as possible. You’ll be offered a space on an alternative class or a refund.

Where are classes held?

Classes are held at our beautiful and friendly studio in Wokingham. Full information on parking, arrival times etc will be included in your class booking confirmation email or you can find details on our Contact page.

Do I need to bring my sewing machine?

We are proud to be working in partnership with Janome, all our classes give you full use of our brand new Janome machines so you do not need to bring your machine with you.

I’m running late for my class

Please call 01189 795 635 to let us know. If you’re running more than half an hour late unfortunately you’re unlikely to be able to catch up so regretfully you won’t be able to join the class.

I’m coming to a class and want to purchase fabric/supplies, can I buy them from you?

Yes! If you would like any help with choosing fabric & patterns for our classes, please pop in, give us a call or email, we are more than happy to help. If you would prefer to order your fabrics online before a class you can email us for a free delivery code and pick them up for the shop. We always recommend that you prewash fabrics prior to your class to avoid any shrinkage and disappointment! Please note our shop isn’t open during evening and Sunday classes so you will need to order in advance.

Can I reserve a space on a class?

All classes need to be paid in full upon booking, unfortunately we are not able to reserve you a space without paying for the booking.

I want to book a class but you don’t have a date for it?

Our classes are repeated regularly throughout the year (excluding some with special guest tutors). If you wish to attend a class but there is no current date, please add your details to the waiting list on the class page and you’ll be emailed as soon as a new date is added.
